Terms of Use
Version 1.0.0, effective October 12, 2026
Purpose and definitions
These general terms of use (the “Terms”) govern access to and use of Optimal Lap. The site is published by NOT A COMPETITION, SAS, whose registered office is at 34 rue Marcel-Cachin, 55240 Bouligny.
In these Terms:
- Subscriber means a user holding a paid subscription that is currently valid;
- Seller means a user who publishes setups on the platform;
- Setup means an iRacing car setup file, together with its information (car, track, series, notes).
By creating an account or subscribing, you accept these Terms and the setup licence. Personal data is processed as described in the privacy policy.
User account
You can create an account with your email address or sign in with your iRacing account. The information you provide must be accurate and kept up to date.
You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity carried out from your account. If you believe your account was used without your consent, write to us right away at contact@optimal-lap.gg.
A minor must have the agreement of their legal guardian before subscribing.
You can delete your account yourself from your profile: a confirmation link is sent to you by email and is valid for 24 h, then the deletion takes effect after a 30-day period during which you can cancel it.
Subscription and payment
The setup catalogue is available by subscription only. The available plans are: monthly or yearly. They are shown on the Pricing page.
- Payment: it is made through Stripe Checkout. We never see or store your card number.
- Prices: they are shown including taxes; VAT is calculated by Stripe Tax according to your country.
- Renewal: the subscription renews automatically at each due date until it is cancelled.
- Cancellation: you can cancel at any time from the subscription page of your account or from the Stripe billing portal. Your access stays active until the end of the period already paid, and you can reactivate the subscription before that date.
- Refunds: no pro rata refund is made for the current period, without prejudice to your statutory rights.
- Trial: there is no free trial.
Right of withdrawal
When you are a consumer, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. This right does not apply to digital content not supplied on a tangible medium where performance has begun with your prior express consent and your acknowledgement that you lose the right of withdrawal (article L221-28, 13° of the French Consumer Code).
At checkout, a mandatory box asks you to accept the Terms and the licence, to request immediate access to setups, and to acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal from your first download. A confirmation is then sent to you by email.
As long as you have not downloaded any setup, you keep your right of withdrawal for 14 days after you subscribed. The period runs until the end of the 14th day after the day you subscribed, at 23:59:59 Paris time; if it ends on a Saturday, a Sunday or a French public holiday, it is extended to the next working day inclusive.
Downloading any file of a setup counts as a download: the setup file (.sto), the telemetry (.ibt), the best lap (.blap), the optimal lap (.olap) or a .zip archive, from the website or from Optimal Sync.
To exercise this right:
- use the "Withdraw from the contract here" button in My account → Billing;
- or send the model withdrawal form, or any other unequivocal statement of your decision to withdraw, to contact@optimal-lap.gg.
We acknowledge receipt of your request by email. If it meets the conditions, your subscription ends immediately and you are refunded in full, to the payment method used when you subscribed, no later than 14 days after your request.
Seller content and moderation
Setups are published by sellers, who are solely responsible for them: they warrant that they are the authors or hold the necessary rights, and that they publish no unlawful content. Terms specific to sellers are set out in the seller terms.
Any user can report content that seems unlawful, misleading or contrary to these Terms. Administrators review reports and may hide or remove content, or restrict an account.
To report content, use the report button on the relevant page or write to contact@optimal-lap.gg.
Files sent to a coach
For a driving analysis, you can send your coach links and files: video, replay, telemetry, setup or another file depending on the sim.
You declare that you have the right to share them and you remain responsible for them. You agree not to send malware or unlawful content. Personal data of other people, such as other drivers’ usernames in a replay, is limited to what the analysis requires.
Some file types are rejected on upload. This check is limited: it does not replace an antivirus scan and we do not guarantee the content of the files. Only you and your coach can access them, for the service.
A suspicious file can be reported to contact@optimal-lap.gg. A breach may lead to the suspension of your account, as described in the “Suspension and deletion” section. The rules that apply to coaches are set out in the coach terms.
Reviews and ranking
Who can leave a review: only a user who downloaded a setup can rate it, once. A seller cannot rate their own setups. The “Verified subscriber” label means the author had an active subscription when they posted the review.
How reviews are handled: reviews are published as soon as they are sent, without prior checks. Their author can edit or delete them, and other users, including the seller, can reply. Any user can report a review; after examination, an administrator can hide a review that breaks the Terms (for example abusive, misleading, off-topic or promotional). The author is told by notification and by email. A hidden review no longer counts in the setup’s rating.
Rating and order of reviews: a setup’s rating is the average of the ratings of its visible reviews. Reviews are shown from newest to oldest.
Catalogue ranking: by default, the catalogue shows setups from newest to oldest, by creation date. You can also sort them by number of downloads or by average rating, and filter them (car, track, series, favourites, search); search filters the results without changing their order. The car, track and series pages show the most downloaded setups first. No seller pays to rank higher.
Setup licence
Downloaded setups are subject to the setup licence, which forms part of these Terms. In short, they are for your personal use in iRacing and may not be shared or resold.
Liability
Setups are provided as is. We do not guarantee any lap time or result, nor that a setup suits your driving style or a given version of iRacing.
iRacing is a third-party service independent of Optimal Lap: we control neither its availability nor its changes.
Within the limits allowed by law, the liability of NOT A COMPETITION is limited to direct and foreseeable damage. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law, or any liability that cannot be excluded.
Suspension and deletion
We may suspend or close an account in case of breach of these Terms or of the licence, fraud, abuse or sharing of setups. We tell you by email whenever possible.
You can delete your account at any time, as described in the “User account” section. While a subscription is active, the account cannot be deleted: cancel your subscription first, and deletion becomes possible at the end of the period you have already paid for.
Changes to the Terms
We may amend these Terms, for example to reflect a change in the service or in the law. You will be informed by email or on the site before they take effect. If you do not accept the new terms, you may cancel your subscription before they apply.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by French law.
In case of a dispute, you can first write to us at contact@optimal-lap.gg. If you are a consumer, you may use the consumer mediator free of charge: [to be completed] ([to be completed]).
Failing an amicable settlement, the competent French courts will have jurisdiction; where you are a consumer, the jurisdiction rules of the French Consumer Code apply.

For any question about these Terms, write to us at contact@optimal-lap.gg.
